Our event speakers are industry experts dedicated to enhancing care and the second half of life for seniors and their loved ones.  They bring valuable insights and practical knowledge, helping you grow professionally in a supportive, engaging and fun environment.  The goal of this one-day, low-cost workshop is to examine issues relevant to social workers and other professionals who serve older adults. If you are a hardworking social worker, case manager, health care professional, home health business owner, nursing home administrator, geriatric care coordinator, or work in the senior care industry in any other capacity, this day is for you!

Dr. Kendra Davis, MDiv

K*METAMORPHOSIS counseling and professional development firm

In 2010, Dr. Davis founded K*METAMORPHOSIS, a counseling and professional development firm, to address critical gaps in treatment and training. Through this work, she equips individuals with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to turn dreams into reality, living out her philosophy of the butterfly effect—small changes creating big impact.

In 2016, she published It’s ONLY a Test: Mastering the Addiction Counselors Exam, a practical, hands-on study guide filled with exercises, worksheets, and assignments designed for participatory learners.

Dr. Davis also facilitates exam prep courses, empowering participants to master the key concepts and confidently pass the Addiction Counselors Exam.

Jenna Renfroe, PhD, ABPP-CN

Clinical Neuropsychologist, Owner, Tailored Brain Health

Ever since Jenna was a child, she has been fascinated with the human mind. Jenna has always been curious about how emotion and thinking work, and especially how they are housed in the brain. So, Jenna set out to become an expert in those things. 
 

Jenna is now board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. 

Jenna has specialized training in the neuroscience of emotion, anxiety, and mindfulness.  Jenna also has extensive experience with Movement Disorders (idiopathic Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonisms, essential tremor), having trained at two national centers of excellence.  

Jenna has worked extensively with active-duty and veteran members of the United States Armed Forces.  One of the highlights of her career is her ongoing work with an interdisciplinary team of experts that teaches resiliency and leadership skills to active-duty military leaders through the 360 Program.

Above all, Jenna has a passion for helping others and connecting to the human spirit. Jenna is also determined to help people care for themselves better in early to middle adulthood, in order to stave off the negative effects of emotional and physical illness and continue to thrive throughout their lifespan.

Dennis J. Toman, JD, CELA

President and CEO of The Elderlaw Firm

Dennis grew up in Wisconsin and moved to North Carolina to attend UNC Law.  

He is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation & Board Certified Specialist in Elder Law, Estate Planning and Probate by the North Carolina State Bar. He has been on many boards and is currently the past president of the Greensboro Society of Financial Service Professionals. 

Dennis founded the Elderlaw Firm over 23 years ago with the mission of providing local families trustworthy guidance for the elder care journey.  

He is an author and frequent speaker and has appeared on television many times.  

Dennis and his wife, Lynne, have two sons and two grandchildren. They also live with their beloved bernadoodle, Jules, who often visits our office and is a popular guest of staff and clients. 

Teepa Snow

Dementia Care Specialist, Occupational Therapist

Originally from West Virginia and western Pennsylvania, Teepa now lives outside Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is a graduate of Duke University with a degree in Zoology.

She received her MS degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

She has a wealth of clinical, teaching, and research experiences that have informed and influenced her philosophy, approach, and practice.

Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care’s mission is to transform the experience of dementia – worldwide.

This means transforming the dementia experience for families, care communities, home care agencies, corporate organizations, governments, and all individuals currently working with a dementia or brain change diagnosis.
